Alright, thank you guys. We are going to call the meeting to order. It is 5 31 and we are please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance. Now we are going to move to item 3A, HLC 25-0028, the Approval of the Minutes. I trust you all get to read those. Anyone have any corrections or anything on the minutes? There was one little place where I was at the end of a paragraph and there was no end on it. It was just a typo, but if anybody wondered, ensure on us. Other than that, I move that we approve the minutes as submitted and I will second that. Alright, everyone approve? Agree? Raise your right hand, or any hand. Alright, if you don't still have any nays, let me know. Okay, unanimous, thank you for that. The next item is Work Session on item 4. We're going to hold a discussion regarding the formation of a community outreach subcommittee. We had this last month, right? Yes, and then the two options. The two options? Yes. Okay, so our options are one, a minimum of three commissioners vote to create the community outreach subcommittee, or two, staff to continue to present outreach ideas to the commission for direction of future meetings. We didn't talk about option A as our option, right? What discussion do we need? Just a minimum of three commissioner votes. Three commissioner votes. I thought we had that last time. I did too. That was just to bring it back on the agenda, but we need a formal vote now to actually create the subcommittee. Do we need a motion in the second or we just need three votes? Three. Does anyone agree to have a subcommittee outreach? Can you agree without agreeing to be on it? Yes. All right. Are y'all voting for it? Did everyone? Yes. Okay, everyone voted for it. So there you go. We're doing option A. All right. On item B, HLC 25-024, receive a report, hold a discussion, and give staff direction on Historic Landmark Commission's request for local historic designation of eligible historic properties. Anyone have a new one to bring? Now, next month, some of us in the DNA tour talked about the property. I think it's 1600 Highland Park Road. I need to confirm that. And she was there and would like to have more information. Kathy Albright. But I'll get her information to you. I did speak with some neighbors on Woodland, and they should have interest in joining the Bell Avenue Historic District. So if we could send letters out, how do we do that? We would need a list of who's interested, and then we can provide information from there. Because if they don't do off the whole street, they're interested in individual properties. Okay. So I will get those addresses to you. Anything else? Well, I followed up with, I think it's one of the webs, Ken, who run Mr. Frosty's. So I stopped by Mr. Frosty's, had a brief chat with him about maybe some historic protections for the place. He declined. He shook his head so hard I thought I was going to fall off. He said, "I want to be able to tear it down and put something else up." I said, "Okay, I understand, but here's my name." We'd like to preserve this spot, if possible. So if you or your family want to have discussions about that, we'd be open to it. I'm keeping on my wish list, though. It's progress. You have an answer. At least that's something to let them know that there's a reason. And I made the pitch. You know, there's some sweet things with it. So yeah, next time I'm in there, I'll bring it up again. All right. All right. Item CHLC 25-025, hold the discussion regarding the Historic Landmark Commission major. Project major. You all just formally created the committee outreach subcommittee, so that will come off. I am still doing some research regarding other historic preservation incentive programs that other cities have. So I'm going to be presenting that kind of internally, and then I will present it to you all. I'm hoping to do that in either June or July. And then I am going to bring back that discussion of local historic heritage and that larger discussion of beautification standards. I'm planning on June for that discussion. And then obviously we have our different work plan items that we're working on. But is there anything that you all want to add to the next two future HLC meetings? I know we're getting into summertime. So if you know that you all are not going to be available for any of these three dates, June 9th, July 14th, or August 11th. Obviously, if you're able to tell us ahead of time that you're not going to be in town, awesome. If not, no worries. But yeah, is there anything you all want to add to the matrix or is everything looking good right now? Cameron, can I ask you a question about the subcommittee? Are nominations going to be formalized at a later date? Um, so I know we had two volunteers from last meeting, and we didn't have any additional volunteers necessarily at that time. So I was going to-- Subcommittee of two? Yes. I thought there were some members not here. Lenny wasn't here, but she doesn't want to be on it. Yeah, Etel was here. I was not here. We put him on it, right? I know we had two. Would you rather us go for formal creation of committee members? Yeah, just to please my little Robert's Rules Board of Heart, can I have a motion for who to nominate? Okay. Okay. Can I sub up what we did last meeting? I agree. Okay, so let's go back to this. Thank you for that. I'm sorry. No, it's okay. You're good. Okay, so let's go back to the subcommittee. So last week, we had Pat and-- No, it wasn't you? Oh, it was you. It was Sean. Good. That's great. We had Sean and Heather that volunteered to be on the subcommittee. So if there's anyone else that would like to volunteer, we have room. So what does the subcommittee entail? I mean, I voted to create it. So this subcommittee would be assisting with outreach efforts. So it would be looking at different ways that the Historic Plan Work Commission can promote and educate the public about historic preservation efforts, ongoing and deadened, but also get people excited and kind of educated about why it's beneficial to preserve your property and then kind of taxes. All that rolled into one. But some of the examples that I shared in the last meeting, and I apologize. I should have said that to you. Some of the examples I shared, though, was like a fun run through historic districts. Another one was a porch fest that Commissioner Gregory had brought up previously, you know, the year prior, but a couple meetings ago as well. So that was brought back as an idea. But also, you know, activating cemeteries. So just utilizing some different programming that we've seen in other cities, not only in Texas, but nationally, and then, you know, maybe the creation of different historic preservation kind of like action groups where there's a liaison for each historic district who can kind of serve as the liaison to the HLC. And then who's able to provide kind of information on the ground. So that helps out the commissioners as well. So just different actions, steps and ideas like that just to get out into the public. Was there ideas of how often the subcommittee would meet? That was not included. It was not. For the two commissioners that volunteered to do it, I would say if no one else volunteers, when you need assistance, reach out to someone. I'm not going to go with that. But if someone else would like to be on that, we're still open for volunteers if you want to. But no pressure. There's no legal reason we can't add someone later. All right, so we need a motion for Commissioner Trey and Commissioner Gregory to be our subcommittee. And if anyone else is interested, which is fine, but we need a motion for those two to move forward in a second. Is that a nomination? No, technically, or just a motion to appoint them? Is that a second? Yes. So we have a motion and a second, all agreement for Commissioner Trey and Commissioner Gregory to be our subcommittee. Please raise your hand. Thank you. Sorry for going out of order. I just was like, wait a sec. The spirit of Roberts is very pleased right now. I'm channeling him right now. Are we back to the project matrix or did we finish that? We finished the project matrix. So now we have concluding items. So the Southridge Neighborhood Historic Resource Survey, that was completed on May 2nd. They were here for a week. They were able to get through the whole neighborhood in that week's time, even though we had a bunch of rain that week. But they said it went really well. So we are planning or we're hoping to get kind of that initial survey feedback and, you know, potential recommendations for eligible properties and historic districts in early October. So they'll be working on that over the summer as well as the historic context. So I'm going to be updating the Preserving Southridge website on the city's website. So if you come across anyone who's just asking questions about Southridge or just wants to know what's going on, that website page should be updated sometime this week and you can reference them to that page. We also have some more Denton Revealed events coming. We have this Saturday, we have the bar tour, historic bar tour, and Commissioner Tree is going to be leading some of those tours. And that starts at 1. We also have the Justin Heritage Foundation for their Gaston House. They're going to be having an Ice Cream Social at noon. And then another, we have another event tomorrow with the IWF Cemetery tour that's going to start at 6pm, meeting at the front gates. It is going to be warm. So if you are going to bring a bottle of water, we're going to have some water on site as well. Better be safe than sorry. And then on the 30th, we have the Denton Vintage Short Film Festival, and that's going to be at UNITICO Lab. And that's a Friday night event from 6 to 8. So we have four more events for Denton Revealed, so I just wanted to make sure that you'll have that on your calendar. And then lastly, this is going to be coming back on a future agenda. So I was going through the 2019 Historic Preservation Plan. And there were a list of properties that were collected at a community gathering for properties that might be future landmarks, but it wasn't officially passed by the 2019 Historic Preservation Plan. I was not here. I don't know why, and I wish I could give you guys an answer. But I'm going to have our GIS team work on cleaning it up and just seeing which ones have been significantly altered or demoed so we can take that off the list. But I'm going to bring back the list of landmarks for a future discussion. So I just wanted to provide the full with that, but those are all my updates. All right. Thank you.
