If you all have one that you can agree upon, that you're like, oh, we really want Cameron and staff to look at this one as like the first one, but these were just possible ideas. We could do all of them. We could do none of them. We could do two of them. And then, you know, we could reassess in 2026, you know, so there's, you guys are not stuck with these. These are just ideas that staff came up with, but as I've also heard at different conferences, and I've seen other cities do, so. Yeah. Yeah. So y'all have other ideas, we welcome them. Let me see, potential next steps. I don't know if y'all want to kind of have a general conversation now with which ideas you like, and would like to pursue it, or if there's others. And then, we saw potential next steps on there too, as to how do we move forward with this. Is there a committee? Is it all of you, you know? Yeah. I have a question on the porch fest. Yes. So, when you talk, would you, are you thinking porch fest, like on community, on not just resident, well, residential porches as well? Yes. That would be so cool. So. I would volunteer. Oh, so a lot of cities do it. Commissioner Gregory brought it up, but Atlanta does it. They do it for like a spring kickoff and a fall kickoff, I think. With the local musicians, and with UNT being a music school, if you gave students a platform, and not just students, but I mean, hey, we have somebody on American Idol right now, and you know, you just never know. I mean, we should probably, you never know where those people are going to go, but that would be fantastic. My brother's neighborhood does porch fest in his neighborhood, and it's very informal. It's more just, the neighborhood association says, because there's a lot of musicians who live in the neighborhood, and they're just like, they went to the neighborhood association, was like, we just want to do a porch fest these two days. And everyone's like, cool. And they're like, yeah, we don't care if you sit in our front yard, on bring your drinks, let's hang out. And so I've done that every year. Yeah. So I'm putting that on Facebook right now. Yeah. That was something we talked about last year. Yeah. When you brought it up. So I'm thinking about combining a couple ideas here, because bring up a very good point that about prioritizing, and I myself feel like I would be psyched to volunteer for a subcommittee that maybe handles these three items. A porch fest, a historic fun run, and cemetery activation. Just try to figure out something that we can do organically, and aim it for October, for the month of Halloween. Because I think a lot of people are excited about in Halloween this year, coming back, and all the attention I got last year. And they're honestly looking for things to participate in. Right. So it's like, I have a space, or I have, I know I hear this from a lot of businesses, like, I just need some ideas. And I'm like, I'll be your spooky idea consultant. Sure. But putting on things off site, you know, for a porch fest, and maybe have like a couple of rehearsals before Halloween weeks. Right. And so, but to put that in the hands of either HOAs, or historic, historic areas. Right. And just give them the power of like, we want to partner and help promote this through the city. If you can pay and feed the talent, and get enough people decorating, right. And let them kind of work organically, kind of work out how they want that to look. Does that make sense? I feel like that that would, that's a pretty easy ask. I've already got a couple of people in mind. But the fun runs, that's another easy one. Because they already do these runs, it would just be a matter of getting routes planned. So, and I know folks on the campaign here, so. So, I think it's a good idea too. I'm, if you want to do around Halloween, I think that's fine too. I think Christmas is a great. Oh, yeah. I think Christmas is a great time. I think fall, even spring, all of those times. The other thing I think it would do is, where Bell Avenue Historic District is, Woodland comes in. And Woodland's been asked to join. And they declined. And this would be a great way to invite them as well. This is what we're doing. Bring them in. But also for issues that we've had, where they needed, where they could have been protected. Yeah. By a historic district. Some things have happened recently that, I don't know, it's just a good thing to bring them in and start Yeah, something sounds a good way to do that. I think that's a nice facilitator. Is there kind of an organization on Woodland who are opposed, they kind of are talking their neighbors into. You know, I don't really know. And I think some ownership has flipped. However, with some of the things that have gone on with test meetings, I think they might be more open. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Some of that is a reception problem, though, Patricia, because I know, I'm just saying what people have said to me, to my face before when I filmed on the historic landmark meeting. And I try to, like, talk to them about, "Hey, what about some incentives for this and that?" And they're like, "Well, I always heard that it's just going to put a bunch of restrictions on me, and it's going to cause more paperwork, and it's going to be a pain in my butt." And, you know, and so I'm like, you know, not exactly, but okay. I mean, I can see where that, like, that kind of reputation, that attitude would be easy to take hold. But I say, wait, what if I start, once I start talking about, like, lean forward, frontward into, like, the tax incentive part of it. And I'm like, what if I told you if you had a tax incentive, instead of buying that cheapest Walmart thing, replace it, and you buy a next better one that conforms, and then you can get certain money back, you know what I mean? Like, then the light starts to go on, and they're like, "Oh, well." Because I'm like, someone's going to have to fix it up, right? So, but these are excellent opportunities to have those conversations. And like you said, to your Angie, I think it's a great way for us to, like, have our kids, our communities, talking with each other, right? And we'd be kind of a conversation of stories. Yeah. As far as these three ideas, I think there could be some value in friend of an out through the year. Sure. However, yeah, I know there's an active committee, I don't know whether that's employees, or whether there's some volunteers, Main Street. It's a combination of planning for October, and they want something for every night. And so, they might welcome some new ideas. It may be far enough into it, but kind of have it all sketched out this year. I mean, this is the fun thing about, you know, this is that I think to get these together, and get partners interested in it, and to do it one time, then you're absolutely right. It's like, this doesn't have to just be like a one shot. Wouldn't this be fun to do it for holidays, for, right? I mean, that's, that's how you get them kind of partnering it up together for a specific project, and then hopefully they then begin to get excited about it. And then back a slide to the neighborhood alliance. I think that just makes sense. And are there like three or four currently? There's three local district districts. And so, I would think too that someday, when hopefully we have a lot, to have a neighborhood liaison would be, would be very helpful to limit, but with three or four, it's not like they're beating down your door, probably. Or are they? They are. Oh, I get a lot of questions. I think I fielded seven phone calls today, just about stuff that you can find on the website. Oh yeah. Which like, that's fine. But you know, that liaison, if that person existed selfishly, you know, I wouldn't have to field those seven phone calls. They could have contacted liaisons and said, oh, here it is on the website. And I wonder, just to dig into that, if out of those seven, were they all homeowners? Yes. Or some of them weren't renters? Correct. So did they have rental properties though? Were they calling about properties they lived in? It sounded like they were talking about their personal properties. Personal property, not renters. But I cannot confirm nor type. I'm not positive, but it sounded like they were asking specifically about their personal properties that they lived in. And they just said they wanted to make sure that they thought to see you away, or that someone was looking for one of the maps. Because I think, oh, Andy Great have a lot of rental properties. West Oak area. West Oak. I think they have a, and so that's what I wondered. Gotcha. That one could be a hard one to find a liaison. I mean, it may not, it may not be, but I mean, for them to know, let me reword that, for the people to know who that one is. Actually, Jacob was very, very active in that. Yeah, and okay, great. The Denton record Chronicle just came out. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, yes. Oh, yeah, that was mentioned there. Yeah. But forming a new neighborhood association for the Western neighborhoods. And to Keisha's point as well. I mean, especially these first two here, historic neighborhood alliance and young preservationist committees, internships, however you want to play that. I feel like that that would be a priority for you all. So that you're also getting some assistance, right? So that you're getting a little bit of help, right? And then trying to figure out ways that some of these other things from somebody else, because the crowd-associating the website or map. But would an internship have to be approved? Or just through staff? I would have to ask legal. I'm going to go ahead and like circle us back to posting a little bit too while I have the opportunity. But generally it's a budget item that, yeah, I don't know if I can hang my hat on that. I started looking with them. That's what I was thinking. So that's a policy operational thing that we can hammer out on the back end if you all want it. Absolutely. Yeah. That's what I want. Thank you. Yeah, because I think there are opportunities to make it more unpaid. But the idea is that they get more experience, right? So over here they get experience and seeing how this works on the ground and different facets of it. So I guess that's why I'm mentioning that I think where you all can lean into that would be high on your priority list because more hands make for lighter loads. All right. Do you need any more discussion? I have lots of notes, but I kind of hopped around and I don't necessarily need direction, but like I kind of would love some direction on whether you guys want to do option one because I'll need to bring that back because that's something that does have to be formally done or option two. But it's not a vote. You just work in consensus that everyone's on the same page. Well, Sean, didn't you say you would do option one, that you would do one? I absolutely will do one and also two. Well, let's do it this way. Anyone else interested in doing option one? Well, Sean? I'm absolutely interested in helping have an active role in already the event production and it's something that they do and have good experience with. We have how many commissioners total? We have six right now. Six total. So we need half to make a subcommittee. Yes. I don't know. I mean, to me, I kind of like the idea of this being an active committee where we're all contributing, but if there's not enough people that are interested in that and the subcommittee is what it takes, then I would do that. I would do that. I'm for either one as well. And ideally, I think it would be nice for everybody to participate. And I suppose if we went with option two, hoping that would be the case and some do less than others, then it's essentially the same thing as option one, but at least everybody has an opportunity, but also are encouraged to. From staff's perspective, is there benefit to a subcommittee? Does it create opportunities that would? Well, having a subcommittee, it's a little bit more formal. And then those kind of those two to three commissioners would kind of be the representatives for HLC when you have these meetings and start putting the event together. The only thing I don't want to walk, get into, you know, walking quorum issues at any point, anything like that, where they're able to contact anyone from the commission. And then you all are on an email together. So it's more formal in terms of where staff and the city are protected from not having walking quorum issues. Legal might be able to add a little bit more to that, but that would be my number one. But it doesn't mean that I don't trust you all to be able to handle option two well either. It's just option one gives the city, the commission, legal a little bit more breathing, feel a little bit more, be able to breathe a little bit more easily, just because it's more formalized. And there would be points of contact for those outreach and event planning organizations. But it doesn't mean that the commissioners can't participate and help with that effort. It would just be kind of your main points of contact. So it's not like the committee would be going into a black box. Correct. Never hear from them. Exactly. Once a year. Yeah, exactly. So let me ask this question, because when we had a meeting before and it was like, oh, we don't need everyone to come because of the walking quorum. So at these events, if we all come to these events, what does that do? It's supposed to be posted. Do we just post it? So we're okay with that? That's a possible quorum. If it gets posted. So if I have a porch fest and I invite the whole HLC, we just post it. That's not be discussing any official business. It's fun. We're not going to be doing that. We don't want to put a day of fraud. Exactly. I feel like that won't be a problem. We said we might be walking around. For transparency. Yes. So, you know, photos taken at a view party or whatever. They're just like, yeah, we knew about that in advance. It's cool. Yeah, it's like we saw all four of these commissioners there in that one photo. There was a notice of possible quorum. I don't know. I think I hear that option too would be the best. And does everyone agree or? And I think the takeaway for me from an advising you all legal perspective is to just continue to be really diligent and careful on your communication. Things should not percolate between council members via email. They should percolate up to Cameron and Cameron can distribute to the group as necessary. And that prevents walking quorum issues. You know, no small groups in the firm, a lot of him. I said option one, it's probably the easiest. Oh, you said it's easy. Oh, I heard that worse. You're like, but if you want option two, fine. But option one is kind of protects city and staff a little bit in terms of keeping you all in a safe spot where you're not dealing with walking quorum and having to deal with that headache, your staff. That is the one with the kind of sawtooth design Mount Miller for a little bit further up. The property owner did reach out to me just asking for more information that they were interested and intrigued, especially by the tax exemption. So I just said they did want to know kind of what the regulations were that come with it and just kind of walk them through that. And they said they would get back to me because they had to meet with the entire family. But they said that they were interested. So they have all information on their plate. They said they'll get back to me. They're going to meet with their family to let us know. So just want to give you all that update. But I have not heard back from the remaining properties that we sent out in February or March. We will be on a couple. Anyone else on that? All right. Good to know. All right. Moving on item four D, C25-019 on our agendas to hold a discussion regarding the Historic Landmark Commission project matrix. Okay. So we had this discussion this evening. So that will be removed from our matrix. The template agenda is ongoing. And then we have this review local and historic district signage, larger discussion about beautification standards. So staff plans on bringing that in spring, early summer 2025. We still have these on items for HLC commission's consideration that are from 2024 regarding updating the COA process to include inspections on the scale of work taking place. I've just kind of kept them there. You know, I know that hasn't been necessarily priority, but they continue to be on the matrix. And then I will add back the tax exemption kind of on hold, but also looking at other resources. But is there anything else that you all would like to add to the matrix or does it look good for right now? I think it looks good for now. Do we add the subcommittee? I just want to- Oh yes. Or is that- No. Yes. No. We need to bring it back on the agenda. It's just a big day. So if you all can vote on adding that to the matrix, then I can get that. So that's very exciting. You can see that is a little bit less than we've done in the past. You know, just wanted to keep it simple and easy this year. There's lots going on, both personal and staff level, but we still have a lot of fun events coming up. We are doing a debt and vintage short film fest for the first time ever. UNT CoLab is going to be hosting that on the 30th, which is a Friday. We're really excited for about that one. That's going to be really exciting, but that QR code leads you to the debt and revealed website, but it's going to be a fun month. The next one is our Preserving Southridge event. That is that historic resource survey that was launched in March. It's going to be an open house, just kind of educating people about what historic preservation is, why it's really important, giving people in the neighborhood the opportunity to sign up for oral history interviews. People can bring different artifacts, blueprints, documents that can be scanned so that they can add that to the historic context, but also so we can collect some archival information for Denton to have on hand. But if you know someone who lives in Southridge or if you live in Southridge, definitely share that information to help people come on out. We're going to be there for two and a half hours at Sam Houston Elementary cafeteria. So that is one of the events. And then the new ribbon cutting ceremonies that we're going to start doing for the Denton landmark destinations. This is actually going to kick off Denton revealed preservation month. It's going to be ribbon cutting at 1526 Willowwood first at 930. Then at 1020, we're going to go to 1900 Westridge Street. And so it's going to be just a little bit of a speech and unveiling of the plaques and then some photo opportunities. And then for Denton revealed, it will kick off with that walking tour because Zinia neighborhood is interested in potentially creating a historic district. So we thought we'd kill two birds with one stone where we get to promote some of our new designations, but also help out a neighborhood who is looking to potentially get designated themselves. And we also have Denton revealed. So it's really great that we can all partner together. And so I've met with them a few times. And then after the walking tour, that neighborhood association is actually going to meet at 1230 and talk. I was going to say it's helpful that there's already a neighborhood, a very active neighborhood association place and a lot of interest on that. So for May 3rd, I think we might want to post that because how many of us are planning on being, I'm planning on being there. Lenny will be there. We can do a notice of possible form. Okay. So we will do a notice of possible form that on May 3rd. I was saying I was, we were the proclamation for tomorrow. If you all, I would say, I know it's a random week.
