Good morning, and welcome to the City of Denton Public Utility Board meeting of May 8, 2023.
Call this meeting to order and jump right in.
Our regular meeting, are there any presentations from the members of the public or any questions?
There being none, we'll go straight into the consent agenda.
Would any member like to pull one of these agenda items?
Mr. Rybak.
Mr. Chairman, I would like to pull item A.
Item A.
Anyone else?
It doesn't appear to be so.
Entertain a motion to approve items B, C, and D.
So moved.
Second.
We have a motion and a second.
Did you get that, Kim?
Okay.
All those in favor, please say aye.
Aye.
Aye.
Any opposed?
All right, we'll move on.
Moving right along.
Your items for -- oh, we got to discuss the pulled item A. Excuse me.
Yes, Mr. Chairman, I just have a brief question on item A. It's an extension of contract.
There's no dollar amount attached to it.
Did we previously approve a dollar amount?
It's just a curiosity question.
I don't get to ask it unless I pull it, so.
Sounds great.
Ms. Thompson, Director of Customer Service and Animal Services.
So we approved a dollar amount amendment in December for $150,000.
This specific item is just to include the terms.
The term was missing on that previous amendment in December.
So we just included a term to June of 2024.
So that's all we're really approving today is to add the term language.
This is a clarification of our prior approved item.
Yes.
You already approved the funding in December.
This is just to make sure we had the term included that was missing.
Just the length of time term you were speaking of?
Correct.
We didn't have a term.
That was my question.
Perfect.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Would you like to move approval?
I would.
Okay.
So moved.
We have a second from Ms. Russell over here.
All those in favor, please say aye.
Aye.
Aye.
Any opposed, sign the same.
There being none, we're moving on to items for an individual consideration.
Under approval, the April 24, 23 minutes, are there any adjustments, changes, or discussion?
If not, entertain a motion to approve.
So moved.
So moved, Ms. Russell.
Seconded by Mr. Taylor.
All those in favor, please say aye.
Aye.
Aye.
Any opposed?
Moving on to management reports.
Mr. Chair and members of the board, in your management update, we did include a memo
from the finance department on the debt service history, so certainly if you have any questions,
happy to go through that, and I'll just -- I'll come back to them if you have questions.
For future items, really no changes, again, a lot of budget stuff coming your way.
Just be cognizant of those dates, and hopefully we can have everyone present to have a good
robust conversation, and then of course for the final item, which is the new action items,
the only request that we had was for the debt information, and we've provided that today,
so happy to answer any questions that you may have.
All right.
Any questions on that?
There being none, we have future agenda items.
Did you address that already?
I'm sorry.
Any future agenda items?
No?
New business action items.
Okay.
Moving on to concluding items.
Let's see.
I'm going to read this to go into closed meeting at 9.05 a.m.
Kim, are you good?
This is easier nowadays.
The Public Utility Board will now at 9.05 a.m. convene in a closed meeting to deliberate
the closed meeting items set forth in the agenda, which include the following.
Item number 4A, ID 23-070, deliberations regarding certain public power utilities, competitive
matters under Texas Government Code section 551.086, consultation with attorneys, under
Texas Government Code section 551.01, and we all, I believe, got the email with the
legal opinion.
Okay.
Now the Public Utility Board has now at 9.32 a.m. reconvene from the closed session and
no official action was taken.
With that, I want to back up just a little bit on management reports and ask to look
at what's the current situation with the effects of Ian, winter storm Ian.
See where we are on that.
The winter storm that may have shut down when the gas shut down on us.
Yuri.
Yuri.
Yuri.
Sorry.
Got the wrong one.
Yuri.
Yeah.
If you could repeat the question again, Mr. Chairman.
Just an update on where we stand on the debt and the effect of Yuri and see where we are.
Okay.
That's it.
Just a report.
Nothing action itemed.
All right.
Okay.
With that, I will entertain a motion to convene.
But we're continuing to adjourn.
Adjourned.
I'm sorry.
Yes.
Thank you.
That is true.
That is true.
All those in favor, please say aye.
Aye.
Thank you very much for your presence.
