I made the drive down to 215 E. McKinney Street in Denton, Texas, all set for the Community Partnership Committee meeting scheduled for Friday, July 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. I had my notes ready, picturing myself settling into the Council Work Session Room for a productive morning of local governance. But when I pulled up to the building, the atmosphere was noticeably quiet. That’s when I noticed the official bulletin board out front had already been updated.
Turns out, the meeting had been officially called off. The posted cancellation notice clearly stated that the July 24 session was cancelled, and it had been put up both on the city’s official website (https://tx-denton.civicplus.com/242/Public-Meetings-Agendas) and right there on the City Hall bulletin board back on Friday, July 17. I took a moment to read through the Certificate of Cancellation just to verify everything, and it was all properly documented and signed off by the Office of the City Secretary.
It’s always a little anticlimactic when you show up expecting a full agenda, only to find the room empty and the session officially off the books. But I actually appreciated how straightforward and transparent the process was. The city made sure the notice was posted well in advance, clearly certified, and easily accessible both online and in person. It saved folks like me from waiting around, and it kept everything running smoothly on the administrative side.
